Changing recurring tasks creates duplicates

When I plan a recurring tasks that was previously not scheduled for a specific time during the day, then it creates a duplicate task series, i.e. I have one recurring tasks not scheduled and one scheduled on calendar.
The new recurring task is also created for the past though instead of just upcoming events. This clutters my task list quite a bit.
Some example screenshots for 31.01. and 02.02. although I updated the recurring task today.

Hi Nico,
Can you confirm that you have an unplanned task every day called "Daily Shutdown" that is in your Today page and you planned it to a specific time on your calendar, correct?
When did it duplicates? Was there already another one on your calendar?

Hi Stefania,
Correct, I had an unplanned task called "Daily Shutdown" that was just shown in my Today page. I had to schedule it everyday in my calendar and after some time I figured out, it often happens around the same time so I wanted to have it planned there by default.
I dragged the task to the slot in my calendar and clicked "Change this and all future tasks".
However, the calendar entries also appeared for past days and I still had the unplanned task in my Today (also going forward).
Does this shed some light on the issue?
Stefania
Nico: Yes, thank you so much for explaining, I'll check this and get back:)
