I would love this feature!

I'm adding another use case to this feature request:

I wish to schedule a meeting (with guests) from a task.

Let's say I have a task requiring a meeting to complete. Now, I have to create a separate event and keep the task so I can mark it done later if the meeting is effective and the task is done. Ideally, I'd want to use the same instance of a "task" as a meeting and add guests to the time block (maybe I can do it manually now via Google Calendar).

yes, sharing with team members, assistants, etc on top of just being able to see calendar would be incredible. Assign from Today or Inbox directly to there "today"/calander
