Really glad this potential feature is getting some traction in the recent weeks. My work recently implemented time tracking since we work in the professional services industry. Like a lot of people I have turned to Toggl to help track what I am working on real time - I think this feature would add a lot of value to Akiflow. I would like to see it as an option in the time dropdown when you create a task and when that time starts, the block for the task automatically grows until you complete it or pause it, you should have the ability to break it out into multiple tasks (say you get pulled into a meeting), and I would love to see it integrated to the focus time tracker as well

Adding comment in behalf of Alexey Sosnovskiy!
An even more helpful feature would be to have the Focus Timer track the time for the task that the user is working on. It would enable task time tracking & analytics in Akiflow – a use case that I know many users struggle with is estimating time required for a task, so that one can understand the systematic bias in their time estimates and therefore what a realistic workload is. Please consider it

Jeson P Thanks for sharing. Very good point.

Jeson P yes 100%! i chronically under estimate and would love a way to compare, planned vs actual timing. It also helps Akiflow AI to understand how long certain tasks tasks.

Jeson P Yes, exactly this would be perfect. Could AI help estimate duration based on this, too, please?

Dodge: We can submit a separate feature request for this and mention folks that you know would love it too! :)

I really need this feature. I use Akiflow to plan my entire day, and it’s disappointing that I still have to use Toggl to track how long I’ve worked on something.
A timer linked to the task that adjusts the task duration to the actual tracked time would already be enough as a basic solution!
Jeson P
Joris Jedamzik: Thanks for the suggestion—totally understand how valuable built-in time tracking would be for your workflow. We’ve heard similar requests, and it’s something we’re actively exploring as we gather feedback on how people use Akiflow day to day.

Some features I'd like to see in the time tracker:
- Start time tracker from any task
- Keep a history of how where time is spent. Have it viewable in the calendar
- Sync time tracked to a calendar in google calendar. Useful to see a comparison of planned time vs actual time spent
- Show statistics of past time tracked. Slice the data by week, month, etc.
- In the timer include a -5 +5 minute to increase or decrease work time or break time by 5 minute increments. Fixed 25 minute focus / 5 minute break sessions don't always work.
- Ability to switch from pomodoro timer to normal timer from the timer floating window
- Option to enable a gentle sound reminder to keep focused on the active task and configure what sound and how often to play it. This has been such a helpful feature on other pomodoro timer called Session.
- Reminders to start the timer. One of my main problems with time trackers is actually forgetting to start tracking time.
- When focus time runs out, give you the option to keep working or taking a break. Or you can always add + 5 minutes or subtract - 5 minutes
- Timer in menu bar.
- A place to log some quick notes specific to the context of the timer for reflection of how the session went.
- Option for Full screen or window on top of other apps for break time. This forces you to take a break away from your screen

I find it really disappointing that the most-voted feedback is not receiving full support. While the AI workflow you have created is impressive, it's not the feature that everyone is looking forward to. What we really need is a tracker to monitor the hours spent on a task via a timer. In the new Release 2.48, I was hoping for an upgrade to the timer feature, but it remains unchanged. I understand that you want to help us with all the AI-supported functionalities, but our fundamental need is a working Pomodoro timer that links with tasks and provides us with statistics. This is all we are really looking for in this thread. I hope we receive support for this feature soon.
Jeson P
Logesh: Thank you for this feedback. We will keep on improving this feature as we work on our future versions!

Hi Team,
I just wanted to express my appreciation for the incredible work you’ve done in enabling the time tracking feature. You guys are truly awesome, and I’m thrilled to be a lifelong customer of your app! I can’t emphasize enough how happy I am with what you’ve created; it’s going to be a game changer.
I do have one piece of feedback: the floating widget is fantastic! However, it would be even more interesting if there were a way to display the time in the menu bar icon on Mac. Additionally, for now, the timer acts as a simple timer which is nice, but the usability is somewhat useless without the ability to track statistics of which tasks the Pomodoro applies to, etc.
Thank you once again for your outstanding work. Love you, team! Sending lots of love from a grateful customer!

Hi Team,
Is there any update on when the Pomodoro-based time tracking feature will be added? I’ve been using Akiflow for quite some time, but I still have to rely on another app for time tracking. I noticed that this feature request was first made back in 2021, yet in 2025, it’s still marked as “planned,” which is quite disappointing.
Do we have a tentative timeline for when this feature will be available? Akiflow is a well-made app with great integrations, but it’s frustrating that time tracking was missed out. I really hope this can be prioritized and added as soon as possible.
Looking forward to your response!

Logesh: The time tracker is already in beta and should be released in Akiflow’s next update (Before the end of March). We appreciate your patience, and we’ll keep you posted once it’s live!

Jayrich Sebullen I was able to give the new timer a shot and am confused on how it is related to time
tracking
. The time spent in the timer does not automatically change the duration of a task nor does it seem to be logged anywhere. Is automatically updating task duration/logging time spent on a task on the roadmap for this feature?Jeson P
Aidan Liss: Hi Aidan! Our current approach is just a timer that is not tied up to any tasks. This will greatly improve in the future as we roll out improvements.
L
Logesh
Jeson P Yes, this would be really helpful! Currently, the timer only serves as a basic timer and doesn’t track how many Pomodoros I’ve completed or the time spent on each task. It would be great to have a feature that shows the Pomodoro count or the total time spent while running the timer for each task. in the statistics column

Agreed... akiflow is the best for task management, but I may have to leave because it doesn't integrate smoothly with any time trackers. I don't need billable hours or anything... I just want to know how I'm spending my time!
J
Jayrich Sebullen
Hi John Sirrine: Thank you for your feedback! We understand how important it is to track your time effectively. We're currently working on a built-in Pomodoro timer in Akiflow, which could be a great solution for your time-tracking needs. This feature is under review by our team, and you can keep track of its progress on our roadmap!
J
John Sirrine
Jayrich Sebullen unless there's more to it than what you're describing, that wouldn't solve time tracking & reporting at all though... am I missing something?
J
John Villarasa
John Sirrine: Hey John! If you just want to track how you're spending your time or if you want to create a report of how much time you spent on a specific project, have you tried to use the "Statistics" feature that we have? :)
J
John Sirrine
John Villarasa yes, and it's a start. But I think it's 2 features away from a basic time tracking experience:
- ability to use tags or projects for events. Those are the ways to view time spent in statistics, so if you use both events and tasks it doesn't work
- stopwatch function.
I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that, but it seems like with these two, it would at least be basically functional
J
Jayrich Sebullen
John Sirrine: I completely agree! adding the ability to use projects for events would enhance time tracking, and I’ll make sure to add your vote to the feature request that is existing.
As for the stopwatch function, we're already working on something similar—the Pomodoro timer/tomato timer, which should address your needs. We’re excited to see how this will improve the experience!

Actual Time Taken - Timer?

Having a view of how much time was actually spent on a block (i.e. with a little timer function to play and pause) would be helpful for tracking time spent (e.g. for billable hours). Once complete, a button option to then amend the calendar slot to reflect the actual time taken would be a cool bonus.

Is such a critical feature, which has been the second most voted feature request and has received numerous comments below, really under review for almost four years? It is essential to know whether this feature will be available in Akiflow in 2025 or if we should expect to wait several more years.
Jeson P
Luke Morales: We understand how important this feature is and are actively working to include it in our plans. While we don’t have an exact timeline yet, we’re hopeful to have it available soon. We appreciate your continued support!
