Treat inbox like an inbox
C
Conner Drew
My mental model of an inbox is a quick place to put tasks before you sort them, such as when a new quick task gets added.
I'd like to be able to move tasks in my inbox to a project (which is sort of confusing since it acts more like folder and tag combo) and not appear in my inbox.
My inbox is overwhelming with multiple integrations and would like a way to use it more as a temporary holding space before I organize them into its appropriate spot.

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll explore adding this feature to improve your experience.

Hi Conner, thanks for your feedback!
We decided to not move tasks away from the Inbox if you don't plan/snooze/snooze for someday them because we want to avoid creating an overwhelming list of tasks in your Label/Tags pages. Like this we want to gently push you to decide when you want to work on a task (plan) or when you can decide this (snooze), so you can clear your inbox and workspace. What do you think?

Stefania: OK, I can appreciate the gentle nudge to plan. This is different than most task tools, but maybe that's a good thing.
Maybe it feels off right now since I have 6 different integrations all coming in and haven't taken the time to sort/plan them all yet.
If this is how Akiflow wants to treat inbox, which I can see the benefits, it would be nice to be able to bring Someday and Snoozed to the main left navigation pane rather than having to click the arrow to view.
I noticed that when I mark a task in a label as someday the counter in the label is removed. It would also be nice to be able to choose whether or not tasks marked as someday affect the counter. This is so that someday tasks don't get "hidden".

Conner Drew: Thank you so much for sharing Conner!
You can use the letter/shortcut G to jump to any page like Snoozed or Someday.
We'll probably remove the counter soon as it shows only the Inbox tasks.

Stefania: I kinda like the counter to show all of the tasks with that label :)

Conner Drew: Hi Conner, how is it going so far with the Inbox and Akiflow?

Stefania: I get wanting to avoid overwhelming lists in label/tag pages, but I don't think it's any better to create an overwhelming list in the inbox or Someday pages. It makes it very hard to pick out items that need to be addressed first. This is also frustrating as someone with an unpredictable chronic illness and an equally unpredictable schedule. Planning every single item is not doable for me. I mean, yes, I could put everything on the calendar, but it's unrealistic for me to plan things weeks or months out.
I agree with Conner's comment below about showing Someday and Snoozed in the navigation pane. It would also be very helpful to subdivide the Someday and Snoozed folders with labels like "Soon," "ASAP," "Maybe," etc. Things get chaotic when there are all my someday/maybe items mixed in with things I need to stay aware of because they're on the horizon.

Stefania: Sure, no problem. This kind of flexibility is an absolute must for accessibility. Forcing people into a single of ideology-based flow can be a dealbreaker for potential users, even if they love everything else about the app. That's a large part of why I'm iffy about subscribing after my trial ends in a few days. I love some of the features, and Akiflow is better for me than other apps in many ways, but I can't get past the rigidity of everything from the list options to the column sizes. If you're going to bill your platform as suitable for neurodivergent brains, it should be adaptable and accessible enough to accommodate them.

Molly: Thanks for sharing this Molly, I'll let you know if we decide to proceed with this option.
