Add up time required by highlighting tasks in list

When multiple tasks are highlighted (e.g. my to do list for today using keyboard shortcuts) it would be handy to see a total time needed (based on the set durations) somewhere. I imagine it kind of like Excel where highlighting cells shows you a sum total in the bottom toolbar.
