Allow Description of Tasks to be Highlighted and/or Different Font Colours

This would make it so much more useful in Focus Mode for note taking, taking minutes, highlighting talking points, etc.

Thanks, Sindy. Could you tell us a bit more about how you’re using task descriptions in Focus Mode today?

For example, are you mainly looking to highlight a few key talking points inside a task, or are you using the description more like a full notes/minutes document during meetings?

We already support basic formatting in task descriptions, but before adding colors/highlights we’d like to better understand the workflow: what kind of notes you’re taking, how long they usually are, and what you do with them afterward.

Thanks for responding to this suggestion! I like to use the task descriptions to take notes on what needs to be done for a task, information I am given about a task, or to brainstorm notes for an upcoming meeting where I don’t necessarily want to save my notes against the meeting invite as that could be read by all participants. Currently, I have to use a range of capital letters, symbols, bold/italics/strikes/underlines to draw my eyes to important elements of the “note” (effectively that is what it is) but this would work much better if there was richer document editing type features such as highlighting certain words or choosing font colours for different lines/ paragraphs/ words. I use task descriptions to prepare agenda items, write minutes and action items for myself during meetings, keep track of large rolling project tasks (I copy the body of the text, often a longer checklist with grouped items, into the next time I work on the same task), and to note down some comments/ findings as I complete tasks. Where possible, I would love to eliminate the need for opening another document application such as word doc when documenting things that only I would need to see. Hope you consider this new feature!

I second that; I use brainstorming a lot in my line of work.

Ideally, I’d love to do that in focus mode but it lacks important formatting elements.

What I’m stuck with one is to open onenote and do my brainstorming which is fine for projects or major-type work I do and have permanant notebook.

But for one-time or recurring things it becomes cumbersome to use onenote for that.

That and also for long-term tasks (especially with sub-tasks coming), having the option to highlight or color will makes managing such tasks much easier, without having to go back to clickup for that.
