One of Akiflow's competitors, Routine, has a feature with their overlay that allows you to see upcoming meetings, how much time is left until your next meeting, and the quick join links for any meetings with a video call attached.
It is very helpful if I'm working through a task to be able to quickly pop up the overlay to see how much time I have left until my next meeting. That helps me determine if I'm OK to dig into something a bit harder (e.g. answering a long email) or if I don't have enough time and should do something easier. These decisions are often NOT about a task that is already in Akiflow, more about just pacing the flow of my day as I work. Being able to quickly pop the overlay to see this is nicer than having to go back to Akiflow (even with the show/hide Akiflow shortcut) because I'm often working on things on another virtual desktop, so if I use the shortcut to return to Akiflow to check the time until my next meeting I then have to return back to the desktop where my active work is open.
Similarly, it is very helpful to be able to quickly join a meeting from the overlay. I realize this is possible via the Akiflow taskbar menu, but that takes 3-4 clicks (depending on whether you have your Windows taskbar automatically hide or not). Again, it's very nice to be able to quick join a meeting from anywhere without having to jump back to Akiflow.
