Merge tasks

I often end up with redundant tasks on my task list, but rather than deleting one, I want to merge them. For example, one task might have a link back to an email that I starred, and another might be something I captured somewhere else. I want to keep the details of both but only have a single task.
Please don't follow the Asana UI for merging. It sucks.
