Add “Time Horizon” grouping to Project List views (This Week / Next Week / This Month / Next Month / Someday)
Akiflow already uses a time-horizon grouping system (This Week / Next Week / This Month / Next Month / Someday) across its main task views.
I’d like this same grouping available as an option in Project List views.
Current behaviour: Project tasks display as a flat list. The only way to add structure is manually creating sections and dragging tasks in, which goes stale as dates change.
Requested behaviour: A “Group by: Time Horizon” toggle in Project List views that automatically buckets tasks using the same logic already applied elsewhere in the app. This would make project views as planning-friendly as the main planner - using logic that’s already built into the product.

Smart Sidebar: Toggle Between Projects and Time Buckets (Ticker List View)
Empowers users who plan by time horizons, like in GTD. A simple Ticker List view could sit alongside the current Projects setup.
A toggle in the sidebar would give users the best of both worlds: structure by topic or structure by time.
This would complement the current setup by:
Keeping project-based organisation intact
Reducing clutter in the ‘Upcoming’ and ‘Planned’ sections
Supporting clearer weekly reviews and forward planning
Helping users who work in sprints, quarters, or seasons
Akiflow’s current structure leans heavily on the Projects view and calendar time blocking. That works really well for organising tasks by topic or commitment.
But for people who think in terms of “what’s coming up when,” it would be helpful to toggle the sidebar between two modes:
Folder
- Project
- Project
Folder
- Project
-Today
-This Week
-Next Week
-This Month
-{Following Month}
-{Following Month}
-{Following Month}
-…etc
-Next Year
Why this matters:
As time goes on, the Projects view often fills up with long-term ideas, parked tasks, or vague to-dos that don’t belong in today’s focus. These "back-burner" items are important, but they make the list feel noisy and cluttered.
Likewise, the ‘Upcoming’ and ‘Planned’ sections can quickly become messy and hard to read when packed with too many tasks. It’s hard to scan or make sense of them during a weekly review.
A Ticker List view gives those tasks a proper home grouped by when they actually need attention, not just lumped together in a long scroll. It helps declutter both Projects and Upcoming while still keeping everything visible and actionable.

Hi John! Thanks for the detailed suggestion — we really appreciate the thought behind it. This approach could definitely enhance planning for users who think in time horizons. We’ll keep this as a valuable reference if we explore this type of integration or view in the future!

Thanks for the detailed suggestion, Elias! This is a great idea. Adding this versatility would make planning much more dynamic and reduce the need for manual sections. I’ll pass this along to the product team for consideration. Leveraging the existing logic across more areas of the app definitely makes a lot of sense. Out of curiosity, would you mainly use this for weekly planning or longer-term tracking?

I would primarily use this for weekly planning but also longer-term tracking. It would be the same as when I view all tasks under each time horizon - but with this, at least I could view tasks from a specific project under the same time horizons, rather than one long list of tasks.
