Akiflow has no good way to track daily/recurring habits (yoga, journaling, reading).
Events can't be checked off, so there’s no way to track.
Recurring tasks can, but a missed instance doesn't simply stay, it becomes overdue and stacks in the backlog while a new instance is also created for the next day. Miss a few days and you're manually deleting stale entries just to keep the app usable.
I set a daily recurring task "Morning yoga," skip it Monday.
Tuesday I have two yoga entries: Monday's, overdue in the backlog, and Tuesday's fresh.
This compounds every missed day and piles up the app.
This makes recurring tasks really inconvenient and there are already several posts highlighting the same problem:
"Mark a task as Not Done," 36 upvotes, open 2+ years: https://product.akiflow.com/p/mark-a-task-as-not-done
Several possible approaches:
Toggle on recurring tasks: "don't carry over if missed".
Incomplete instances just expire instead of going overdue and left on the calendar unchecked for visibility
New activity type, "Routine": checkable like a task, but never becomes overdue when missed. Could be later expanded into a brand new product module with habit tracking (like https://ticktick.com/)
Do not put recurring tasks in overdue at all
Morgen already solved this with a separate Routines type: time-blocked and checkable, no backlog, no rollover:
https://www.morgen.so/guides/morgen-routines-guide
Ticktick solves it with a separate habit tracker:
