The problem Akiflow is the best tool I've used for capturing and scheduling work. It doesn't tell me whether that work matters. Today a "Goal" is a task with a priority flag. It helps me pick 2–3 things for today, but it doesn't connect those tasks to anything bigger. I can finish a perfect week in Akiflow and still make zero progress on what's actually important to me.
What I'm asking for A Goals/Objectives object that sits above projects and tasks, so every piece of planned work can answer "why am I doing this?"
Areas: top-level containers such as Work, Health, Family, Learning.
Goals: live inside an Area. Each goal has a title, a why/description, a start date, a deadline, and a measurable target (a checklist, a number, or a %).
Linking: any task, project, or recurring task can be linked to a goal. Completing a linked task updates the goal's progress automatically.
Goal view: shows progress over time, linked tasks (done and open), and whether I'm on pace for the deadline.
Roadmap: a timeline of all goals across the quarter or year.
Where it plugs into what Akiflow already does well
Daily Ritual: when I plan my day, show my active goals and flag any goal with nothing scheduled this week.
Weekly Ritual: review progress per goal, then pick this week's objectives from real goals instead of retyping them as tasks.
Calendar: time blocks inherit the goal's color, so I can see where my week actually went.
Aki: "You spent 80% of this week on unlinked tasks," or "Goal X has had no activity in 12 days."
Why this matters for Akiflow Right now I (and others) run a separate goals app next to Akiflow. That means two systems, double entry, and the goals app loses because I don't open it daily. Akiflow is already where I plan every day, which makes it the natural home for goals. It would move Akiflow from "where I manage tasks" to "where I make sure I'm working on the right things."
Minimum version I'd happily use Goals with a deadline and a target, task-to-goal linking, and a progress bar shown in the Daily and Weekly Rituals. Everything else can come later.
