I'd like to upvote here — the current implementation of time slots is contradictory to how I use time slots. And drag'n'drop effectively hiding the task & making it invisible is making it unusable, forcing to go back to using google calendar events as time slots — because this way I at least can drag'n'drop tasks on top of them easily.
The item mentioned in your FAQ that says "You can Lock Time Slot to block your time, and we want to avoid showing both your slots and all tasks on Google Calendar for clarity." — is valid, but just showing time slots is even worse: now I can't rely on the system, because it hides tasks from me. Because it makes impossible situations like having 10-hours-worth of tasks inside a 1-hour time slot — making time planning fully unreliable and making the system harmful rather than useful.
Nothing should ever hide tasks from me and distort time, allowing me to think I have enough time to finish X things, while it's just the system allowing to put 10 hours inside one.
Fully agree with Cade here — time slots could have just been a labeled background color on the calendar view to drag'n'drop over.
Think of them as containers within your calendar where you can neatly organize your tasks
IMO time slots don't need to be a container at all — I think it's just a wrong abstraction.
Hypothetically, you can have a 2h long task inside a 1h time slot. On Akiflow you’d see your 1h Time Slot and on Google Calendar both, making your blocked time impossible to arrange properly.
It doesn't need to be a container at all. And a task can easily span multiple time slots — perfectly valid situation.
I know you won't re-do time slots as non-containers, although I find it a lot easier abstraction. It's just my honest feedback as a software engineer using the system.
But maybe at least I can ask for a feature of easier overlap, so that drag'n'dropping never puts anything inside a time slot — just disable this feature altogether somehow, to prevent it being a container.
So that I see them both, can add a task that overlaps multiple slots, etc.
Right now there is a very small drag'n'drop area on the right of the time slot that sometimes doesn't work. For example, in 3-days-calendar view if I'm dragging to the day that is currently on the right — it doesn't work at all.

Dima Bondarenko: Hi Dima, sorry for my late reply!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback, I really appreciate it.
I understand that you'd like to use time slot as a visual representation and not a task container. We thought of them more as Activity-time blockers where you can initially decide how much time to spend on a specific activity and add similar tasks to it.
I understand your need and I'll let you know if we decide to move in this direction.
Best,
Stefania

I see a value in it, but I'd like this to be optional if possible. Having tasks hidden makes calendar more clear and less cluttered, so allows for better grasping all projects at once without "hundreds of tasks at the same time" stress.

Hi Cade! What specific items do you want to overlap on the Time Slot? Are they tasks or events?

Jeson P Hey Jeson, I'm specifically asking for events and tasks to appear over the top of time slots. They currently will appear side by side which can decrease the already scarce screen space on some screens. Given the nature of slots, I understand that you are supposed to be using them to place tasks inside of, but I find that I'm typically scheduling longer slots of times that are interspersed with various events that don't overlay the time slot in calendar view.
Ideally, I'd want to have a timeslot that appears beneath events and tasks with the option to place tasks inside of the slot or outside and above the slot. An example I commonly experience would be having a general time slot for my work day that I aggregate tasks inside of, but there are several that I want to track separately and will keep outside the slot. I will additionally have events that take place during the work day that I want to overlay the general time slot.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Without this update, timeslots is useless for me - I shouldn't have to click multiple times to check tasks and update them.

Agreed, it would be great to see see my tasks within a Time Slot listed on the calendar timeline by default. I really like being able to organize my day with time slots, but currently I keep my tasks outside of the Time Slot so I can see them laid out on the calendar without having to click into the slot. But this is a small gripe - thanks to the Akiflow team for this great product!

Yes… Having Time Slots is great, but at a glance, it is really hard to see what my day specifically is going to be about. At least making it more obvious that there are tasks in the Slot other than just the number of tasks in the slot.

Stefania: I don't know of a good UX solution, but when I look at my Time Slots, it can be hard to discern the small Stack icon from a number, which currently is the only indicator, that there are planned tasks in that slot.
A possible way, would be to show a list of the tasks in the slot, from the calendar view
From current to something like the image with the red boxes
I would love to see all the tasks under my Time Slots to appear in the calendar by default instead of only appearing when I click the time slotFor example, in the screenshot above, I have a time slot called Build Momentum Work and I added a task under it, but I can only see the task if I click the time slot, it does not appear by default

This! I think that Morgen does this. It's pretty handy.
I find it hard to visualize my day when the tasks that I place into Time Slots are not visible from the calendar view. It would be helpful if we could almost see through a Time Slots and see our tasks lined up within in some way.

Hey Jonathan,
I totally understand what you mean — being able to see the tasks inside a Time Slot directly from the calendar would make planning and visualizing your day much clearer.
Right now, Time Slots act more like blocked periods rather than expandable containers, but your feedback is spot-on and has been added to the feature request. This kind of visibility improvement is something many users would benefit from, so we truly appreciate you sharing it.
If anything else comes to mind while you're organizing your day, feel free to send it over!
