Filter by folder

Currently, it is only possible to filter projects by projects.

I have a folder that holds projects for personal projects and another for work. Being able to filter out/switch folders will save me much time and effort than selecting all projects one by one

Yes please!!! I agree with prior comments -- I use for work and personal and need multiple projects in folders but want to filter by everything in that work folder! Using so many tags is messy and cumbersome. Thank you! This would be so helpful.

Super agree! I have so many projects and it would take too long to tag each task as #work, but if i could filter to just the work folder it would make my todo list much easier to read!

Very similar issue with what everyone here is saying, and why i am also keeping my todoist. I have folders for work vs personal projects and when i work, i don’t want to see any personal items in my list, and having to pick every project in the filter is a mess.

Yes please. Although you say you can filter by Project? I can not, I can only filter by status or tag?!

Filter should also exist in the Inbox imho.

From my experience, it only works in certain views - albeit the ones that make the most sense to have it IMO.

(possibly among others) I can filter by project for:
      Today view
      Upcoming

And I really wish you could do it in the “All Tasks” view but you can’t

Additional context from Deron: "In the "Upcoming" Section, you can filter by project (which is great). It'd be even better if you could filter by folder. I use Akiflow for both work and personal and I have a different weekly planning session for work and personal. All of my personal projects are in a personal folder. All of my work projects are in a work folder. It'd save me checking some boxes to be able to select a folder to filter by instead of all projects in a given folder."

John Villarasa . Yes! Well said. I'd love that not just in the Upcoming View but everywhere. And also the option to have, say, these two folders but not that one… Thank you, dev team!

Agreed! Right now I am filtering by tags, but if I could filter by folder I wouldn't have to tag everything as they'd already be in the appropriate folders.

John Gierach I second this, would be great to not have to tag everything as well as put into projects

+1. This is one of the reasons I haven't moved everything to Akiflow. I'm now using it for work stuff while keeping Todoist for personal tasks since I want a very easy way to separate those two when I do planning.

This is my biggest hesitation right now with using Akiflow with work AND personal. I want to be able to easily turn off my work brain and the high volume of work tasks when i am planning for my personal life. Being able to toggle off that whole folder would be game changing.

    Filter by Folder

Many views are only able to be filtered by project. This currently limits views to either 1) absolutely everything or 2) a very narrow view. Adding a filter by folder option would allow users to quickly cycle by domain as needed (ex. Work vs personal, Finance vs operations, etc.) without having to manually select many projects each time. Along the same lines, the ability to view all tasks within a folder would be useful for the same reason

      Hi Davis,

Thanks for the suggestion — this is a great point.

We agree that filtering only by project can be limiting, and filtering by folder (or viewing all tasks within a folder) would make it much easier to switch contexts without extra manual work. We’ve shared this feedback with our product team for future consideration.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain the use case!
